If you survived the console launch of GTA VI last year and patiently waited for the PC version, your time is almost here. With rumors strongly suggesting Rockstar will drop the PC port by late 2026, one question is dominating every forum: "Can my PC run it?"
Here at PGS Gaming Lab, we’ve analyzed Rockstar’s history and the current state of hardware to give you the truth, cutting through the fear-mongering that hardware manufacturers love to push.
🧠 RAM: The End of 16GB?
If Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 taught us anything, it’s that dense open worlds devour memory. To run GTA VI comfortably, 32GB of RAM (whether DDR4 or DDR5) will no longer be a luxury; it will be the recommended standard. The good news? The price of 32GB kits has dropped significantly. If you are still rocking 16GB, this is the first and cheapest upgrade you should make.
💾 Storage: Say Goodbye to HDDs (For Real)
Rockstar already demanded fast SSDs on current-gen consoles. On PC, don't even try installing GTA VI on a mechanical hard drive or an old SATA SSD—unless you want to see textures popping in right in front of your face while driving at 150 mph. A Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD (with at least 1TB of space, since the game will likely exceed 150GB) is mandatory.
🎮 Graphics Card: Where the Rubber Meets the Road
You don't need an RTX 5090 to have fun. Rockstar’s RAGE engine is usually very well optimized. To play at 1080p on High/Medium settings at 60 FPS, entry-level cards from the previous generation, like the RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 7600, should handle the job perfectly—especially with the help of AI upscaling tech like DLSS 3 and FSR 3 (frame generation).
👉 The Lab's Advice: Don't panic-buy parts right now. Wait for the official system requirements. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Tech Deals lists, as RTX 40-series cards are starting to see massive price drops!
